My wife is on my case to do a new blog, so here it is. Things are going fine. The tracks are done now in reference to my last post. They sound fantastic!! I'm excited about the new CD we'll have coming out soon. I'm hoping it will be a blessing to many people!
Summer is almost here now, and the weather has been gorgeous lately. It's time to hit the lake hard and do some fishing! There's nothing better than being on the water and feeling that hit from a big bass.
Well, I don't really have too much else to say for now. Hopefully this little snippet will buy me some time to think of some things.
Until next time...

New Melodyaires Project
We're about to begin recording on our new CD for The Melodyaires. We've got some great songs picked out, and tonight we meet to "key" the songs. That means deciding which key we want the music to be in for those who aren't musically inclined. I'm excited about this new project. I've been praying that God would use our group in a mighty way to reach lost souls for Him, and I think this CD will be a big part of it. Some of the songs on there are really fantastic, especially one called "Hand of the Healer". I'll give updates for any who might care when the tracks are completed and when the whole project is done. We're scheduled to record the tracks on March 30th, and hopefully the vocals will go down shortly after that. I hope everyone is having a blessed day!

Happy Birthday to Me!
Well, today I turned 28 years old. The dreaded 30 is getting closer and closer. I really feel older today, but as I strain more and more just to get out of bed I know I'm aging. I never would have dreamed just a few short years ago where I'd be in life now. A wife, a beautiful little boy, a career.....wow, where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday I was a little kid without a care in the world! Sometimes I miss those care-free days, when all you had to worry about was school and who your girlfriend would be for the week. Now it's bills, health concerns, jobs, family, money.....you just can't seem to catch your breath anymore. For the last 3 weeks or so I've been doing my quiet time every morning. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't read God's word regularly before then, but I'm trying to make it habit, and so far so good. The Lord has really been teaching me things as I've been reading in Matthew and I've enjoyed the time to spend with Him before I begin each day. Things like using my talents and gifts wisely, keeping my pride in check (Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, those who humble themselves will be exalted), and learning not to worry and to trust God. I highly recommend it to everyone!! But anyway, as I stumble through this long random post, just remember to try to keep life simple--don't let the everyday struggles get you down. The Lord will provide and bless those who seek after Him. Happy Birthday to Me!!
PS> Trey had his 6 month cardiology appointment yesterday. He was cleared for another 6 months and nothing had changed since his last appointment! Praise God!!

A Huge Thank-You to Lori!
I have to say a huge THANK YOU!! to my sister-in-law Lori. We had a bit of a scare with Trey Saturday night when he got the hick-ups and suddenly learned a new noise...sucking air in to make it sound like he couldn't get a breath!! Talk about scary... With his heart situation, we don't like to take any chances with his health.
But, my precious sister-in-law (who happens to be an RN), went out of her way to go to her office and get her stethoscope and drive to our house to listen to Trey's lungs. Thankfully, nothing was wrong with him and we think he's just learned a new sound to make, which was much worse with the hickups. But Lori was a lifesaver and really eased our minds by coming to listen to him. Thank you Lori!! She's such a wonderful aunt to him, and we love her very much!!
PS. She also took time out of her Sunday afternoon to give my wife a flu test since Ashley is now sick. Fortunately, it's not the flu but a sinus infection. But another great act of kindness and caring from La-La as Trey would say!

Happy Birthday to Alex!
Happy Birthday to my nephew Alex who turned two on friday! We had his party on saturday, and he was QUITE excited. He was doing a "birthday dance" all over the floor which consisted of running around and jumping up in the air only to land right on his rump. Quite entertaining! It's hard to believe he's already 2 years old. Seems like yesterday when he was born. I'll never forget his birthday cause I had my Lasik surgery the day after his birthday. Two great occasions!
Speaking of birthdays, with John's in January starts a long string of birthdays for our family. There's John, Alex, Mama Kathy, Lori, Nanny, Papa's, and mine all within about 6 weeks or so of each other. We're all pretty much partied out by the time mine rolls around! Speaking of, it's hard to believe I'll be 28 this year. I'm getting closer and closer to the dreaded 30. Oh well, at least I have Trey to keep me young! Happy Birthday to all!!

Road Trip and a New Drummer
Well, we had our first road trip with our new drummer Friday. Adam was a bit nervous as we prepared to play a concert at the Kirkland's homecoming singing in Douglas, GA. It was about a 6 hour drive to south Georgia, and we left at 10:00 Friday morning, arriving in Douglas at about 4:15 in the afternoon. After a loooong sound check, we played at about 7:30.
I could tell Adam (Plott, our new drummer) was quite nervous, but he did a good job. We had a pretty good time, especially playing X-Box on the way down and back. We didn't get in until 7:00 saturday morning, and I was a tired puppy when I got in bed at 7:30. I got to sleep until 11:30 and took a good nap yesterday afternoon, so I've just about recovered. But, it was nice to get back out on the road and play some music.

SNOW!!!
Woohoo! Finally a taste of the white stuff in our area! It's been quite a while since we got any snow here, but this morning we finally got some. Usually we're afflicted with the dreaded ice storms that do nothing but wreak havoc on the power and roads, but this time we actually got some snow. I love it!
My wife is the biggest snow bunny I've ever seen. At the mere mention of the word she almost wets her pants with excitement. She woke me up at 5 am this morning to make come look at the snow that was falling. I wasn't amused, although I must admit that I love it too! I'm always the pessimist telling her that it won't really snow, but deep down I'm hoping above all that it will. Only bad thing is when it's not too much like today I still have to work. Maybe one of these days it'll come on the weekend and we'll get about a foot like we did years back. Hope everyone enjoys their snow day!!

John's B-Day Party
Saturday was my nephew John's birthday party. 6 years old! I can hardly believe that he's that old. It's really making me start to feel like an old man. I can still remember the day he was born and being an uncle for the first time! John's always been my buddy, even though I have this bad habit of hurting him in some form or fashion when we play. Can't quite explain that one, but we have to be careful around each other. :)
And now just a little while more and Alex will be 2. Wow, where does the time go? I couldn't ask for two better nephews or for a better set of in-laws. God has blessed our family tremendously!

Pictures were fantastic!!

As I said last friday, we had new family pictures made at Portrait Innovations in Greenville on Saturday. They turned out amazing!! I'm going to include a one of the pics for your viewing pleasure. It's hard to believe how much Trey is growing up. I was looking back recently at some older pictures of him, and he's come quite a long way! Praise God he's as healthy and as active as he is! I hope you enjoy the picture! I'll try to add a slideshow later with more of them.

New Pictures Tomorrow
We're going tomorrow to have new pictures taken of our little family. It's been a little while since we had any made, so it will be neat to have some updated shots--especially of Trey. The place we're going to, Portrait Innovations, is supposed to be really good. The best part is that you get your prints the very same day because they print them at the location, so that will be cool.
It's amazing to look back at pictures of Trey and see how much he's grown. He's becoming such a unique little person now it's amazing! Time truly does fly by when you have kids of your own. It's really weird thinking back to his birth, surgery, and other milestones. Now he's almost walking and getting into everything! Hopefully I'll have some new pictures to post next week, although I'm not sure if we get a disc with the pictures on them or not. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Lugnuts...
Well, my wife gave me quite an exciting day yesterday. Seems she ran over something around lunchtime yesterday and poked a hole in her tire. Therefore, I had to change a tire on main street in Liberty yesterday. No big deal, really. Well, except for one small detail. My wife's van has locking lug nuts, and it requires a special key to loosen or tighten the locking nut. It was no problem to change the tire, but evidently I left the key laying in the parking space on main street.
So, after having the tire fixed yesterday afternoon, I found out that I couldn't remove the spare without the key. I drove back all the way to Liberty to look for it, but I couldn't find it. I then had the bright idea to use the key from my mother-in-law, who has a van just like ours. One problem...she doesn't have locking lugnuts...therefore, NO KEY!!
Now I have to call the Honda place and try to get a key so I can take the stupid spare tire off! What fun!! Anyway, that was my exciting day yesterday. Hope you enjoyed my agony...ahhh, it wasn't too bad!

Work, work, and more work!!!
Wow, I think I'm busier now than I've ever been in my working life. We are absolutely wide open here at work, which is a great thing. It's just somewhat stressful at times. Especially considering that we lost our girl in the office about 2 months ago. It looks like we're on the verge of hiring someone new to replace her, but that means training and getting into a routine, which is never easy.
Of course, I fell way behind over the holidays and am still trying to dig myself out. I also recently moved into an office by myself, which is nice, but also added to my being behind on things. I know in a few days I'll be caught up, but it's not too much fun right now. I guess that's why they call it work! Oh well, at least we're busy and not sitting around looking for things to do. That's never good. Anyway, that's my little rant for today. Now, back to work!!

Great news for Trey!!
I just received a phone call from the nurse at Trey's Immunologist's office, Dr. LaCroix. She reviewed the results of his bloowork from a week ago or so, and she was thrilled with the results. His CD4 count was excellent, which shows that his T-cell count has caught up and his immune system is doing well! Also, he shows antibodies to all of his vaccines, which means his body is responding the the vaccinations! Wonderful news!!
If you'll look back at my archives to a post called "Bactrim is the Devil" you'll understand the best part of this news. He no longer has to take the bactrim!! He was doing really well taking it for the last several months, but I know he's going to be thrilled to not be taking any medicine for the first time in his life!! Praise God for working such miracles in this little boy's life!! I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude to the Lord for all the things he's done for Trey and our family. From such a scary time before his birth, the Lord has come through for him and us time and time again. You would never know there was anything wrong with Trey if you saw him. The little booger is into everything and weeks away from walking I think. Just thought I'd share the fantastic news!!

The new Blogger...
Well, as you can probably tell, I've switched my blog over to the new Google format. I couldn't tell if I really liked it at first, but after playing around with it for a while, I think I do like it. I like that I can add pictures to the top, bottom, and side of the page. There's also a bunch of other stuff you can do that I'm not smart enough to figure out. I'm sure if you are a whiz at HTML you could really go crazy with it, but I'm definitely no good at that.
Don't really have much to say today. It's been a good week so far, but a long one. It's always tough going back to work, especially after being out for over a week. But the routine is starting to come back, and that's good. Trey always does very good with his routine, and he had no problems at all going back to daycare, so I'm sure he's happy to be back on schedule. Well, that's all for today.
Until next time...

Bowl Trip, Christmas, and a New Year!
Well, I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas this year. Our family certainly did. Trey had an absolute blast opening his gifts. He didn't really care too much for the toys at first...he was too busy playing with the wrapping paper!! He eventually caught on, though, and loves his new toys.
We headed out for Memphis to the Liberty Bowl last Thursday morning. What a long drive!! You don't realize how far it is to drive to the other end of Tennessee until you actually do it! I must say, Trey handled it like a little trooper. He never fussed hardly at all on the trip out there or on the way back. We luckily made it safely in both directions with no problems. The game was fantastic!! What a shootout! I was a little nervous for a while with how close it was, but the Gamecocks came out victorious, and that's all that matters! Bet the tiggers wish they could have won! :)
I hope everyone has had a fine beginnning to 2007. Hard to believe yet another year has come and gone. Time simply begins to fly by when you have kids. I can't wait to see what milestones Trey reaches this year. We just found out yesterday that the results of his latest bloodwork show that his T-cell counts were fantastic and in normal range. He should be coming off his Bactrim shortly. All of his shots are taking well too, so he's doing fantastic! Well, time to run for now. Happy 2007 to everyone!!
